In Belgium, the static pile design under static loads is generally based on the Cone Penetration Test (CPT). Report 12 published by the BBRI gives guidelines for the application of the EC 7 for the ultimate static pile design under axial compression load. In France, the Pressuremeter Tests (PMTs) are rather used for the pile design. The new national application standard for the EC 7 is the NF P94-262. The aim of this paper is to compare those two approaches regarding the pile design. A comparison with experimental results obtained from static pile tests performed in the experimental site of Sint-Katelijne-Waver (BBRI, 2001) and Limelette (BBRI, 2003) is also conducted.
